El amor atemporal (reseña de la Epopeya de los Amantes de Miguel Santander)

Cuando leí el argumento de la Epopeya de los Amantes lo hice con cierto escepticismo. Mezclar la aparición de unos manuscritos aparecidos en un yacimiento arqueológico, más antiguos que los poemas de Gilgamesh, y Tesla me parecía una apuesta arriesgada. Si no hilvanas la historia con precisión te arriesga a que se descosa y quede para trapo, sin embargo, Miguel Santander es capaz de dar unas puntadas tan precisas que nos muestra una confeccionada historia. 
Lo primero que hace para lograr este efecto es primero dividir la novela en dos partes diferencias, la primera de ella es el contenido del propio manuscrito anterior al poema de Gigalmesh. Nos muestra una historia clásica mitológica de reyes, demonios y maldiciones. Una historia con aire de fantasía que te pone en antecedente. La historia de un rey que se casa en contra de la voluntad de los dioses y acaba maldecido con la repentina vejez de su amada.
 No obstante, cuando llega la segunda parte, te contrapone la historia inicial con una historia más cercana a la ciencia ficción clásica que recuerda muchísimo a H.G. Wells (guiño, guiño) que enlaza perfectamente toda la historia en general. Este punto de la novela parte con un Tesla que recibe los papiros del yacimiento de mano de su amigo que acaba muerto tras una extraña persecución.
Además, esta novela juega con quien la lee, pues te pone en duda acerca de la veracidad de los textos de Tesla. No sé sabe si lo que habla es cierto o es una broma. Personalmente quiero creer lo primero, básicamente porque la historia de amor que encierra me parece adorable.
Tras leerla no nos extraña que recibiera el premio UPC de novela corta de 2012.
Y como siempre destacar en los libros de Cerbero la calidad de la edición y de la elección de portadista, Calavera Diablo que conjuga en las dos imágenes de la portada, que se asemeja a la estructura de la novela, la esencia de la novela.
